The Co-op picked up a number of awards in 2017.  The most significant of these was being named the 2017 recipient of the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year Award.  The award was given to us at the Chamber’s 101st Annual Banquet in February 2018.  

 

Voted through a Chamber-wide nomination process and selection by their Board of Directors, the Co-op was recognized by its many contributions to the community, its advocacy for local products and shopping, nutritional eating, and regional donation programs, and is customer-owned.

 

It is an honor to be given this award. A big thank you goes out to all of our staff, managers and board members who over the years have helped make the Co-op the success it is today!

Secondly, we were selected #1 in the Best Local Grocery Store category in The Southern’s Readers’ Choice: Best of 2017 Awards.  The Southern’s Readers’ Choice Awards showcases many local businesses in the southern Illinois region. With competition from the Internet, its even more important to draw awareness to local businesses and organization who are vital to our local economy. These businesses not only support growth and jobs, but they also support communities through donations and advocacy. According to The Southern, voting for the awards was conducted on thesouthern.com, and over 40,000 readers participated.

 

Categories ranged from restaurants to retailers. With the many choices that customers have, we are grateful and honored to receive this award.
